Middle East Conflict Drives Up Packaging Costs,ZLPACK Expected to Stabilize Soon
By now, you've probably noticed the recent price changes in the packaging market.
Due to war—especially the situation in Iran—oil prices have stayed high. Since flexible packaging materials like PP and PE are oil-based, our costs have gone up accordingly.
Since early March, prices for Food Pouches and laminated films have increased by about 15% to 20%. Materials are not only more expensive but also harder to get. Some suppliers are charging extra just to secure stock, and delivery times are longer than usual.
The good news? This likely won't last long.
The current price spike is mostly driven by panic buying. Looking at the fundamentals, there's no real shortage—demand hasn't surged. Once domestic petrochemical plants resume full production after maintenance, supply will catch up and prices should ease.
We expect things to stabilize within about a month. As the Iran situation becomes clearer and oil prices settle, raw material costs will likely come down.
Our suggestion: order based on your actual needs for now. Prices are probably at their peak, so waiting a bit might save you money on your next order.
